Ioannis Gkikas
Mayor of Egaleo
He was born and raised in Egaleo, where he lives permanently as of today.
He completed his basic studies at the 1st High School of Egaleo (Central).
He is a qualified Electrical Engineer since 1986, with an MSc in the Energy Sector.
He worked in Technical Companies and from 1986 until today he maintains with partners a private office of Studies and Supervision of Private and Public Projects.
He is the Vice-President of the Association of Engineers of West Attica.
From 2003 to 2019 he has been elected as a Municipal Councilor in the Municipality of Egaleo.
For 7 years (2004-2010) he served as Deputy Mayor of Projects-Technical Services and Deputy Mayor.
In 2019 he was elected Mayor of Egaleo.
He is a Member of the Construction Technical Council of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport as a representative of Central Union of Municipalities of Greece.
He is an elected member of the Development Association of West Athens (ASDA) from 2002 until today.
He has represented successfully the Municipality, the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (KEDE) and Development Association of Western Athens (ASDA) at important conferences and meetings in Greece and abroad, on Local Government and Environmental issues.
He was a Member of the Institutions Committee of the Regional Union of Municipalities of Attica (PEDA) where he has been a representative at Design and Construction Evaluation Committees.
He has been a Special Advisor to the Ministry of the Interior and specifically to the General Secretariat for Waste Management Coordination.
In the context of first and second level of Local Government Institutions, he was involved in the planning, coordination and execution of European Restructuring and Development Funds programs related to of reconstruction of areas planning, energy systems and Regional Development projects.
