Year and Place of Birth: 1969 in Split

Family: married, three children

  • He finished primary and secondary technical school in Split
  • In 1994 he graduated in electrical engineering at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Split
  • In 1997 he received his master's degree in particle physics from the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science in Zagreb
  • In 2000 he received a PhD at the Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris, PhD was made at the Ecole polytechnique and CERN
  • Co-author of more than 1000 scientific papers, and more than 600 activities for the promotion and popularization of science

Languages: English and French.

Career

  • Since 1994 he has been working at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Split. Prior to taking office as mayor, he was a full professor
  • Visiting scientist at CERN in Geneva and visiting professor at the Ecole polytechnique, Palaiseau, France
  • He was one of several thousand scientists involved in the multi-year discovery of the Higgs boson at the European Council for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Switzerland
  • He was the secretary and member of the presidency of the Pametno party and the political secretary of the Centar party, which was formed by uniting the Pametno party and the Party with Name and Surname

Recognitions and awards:

  • For his scientific work and achievements, he was awarded the Order of the Croatian Danica star with the figure of Ruđer Bošković
  • He is the winner of two awards for science at the University of Split
  • He is the winner of the state award for science and the state award for popularization of science
  • He is the winner of many other awards for science and popularization of science
