Thanasis Vassilopoulos was born on July, 29 1970 in Kalamata and is the first child of the family with many members of Panagiotis and Anna Vasilopoulou.

He has two children and is married to Evi Papageorgiou.

Since 1992 he has been working as a freelancer in the field of importing and selling of car products.

He has been active in Local Government since 2010, when he was first elected as a City Councillor in the Municipality of Kalamata. During this period he has served the Municipality of Kalamata in various positions of responsibility, such as:

• Vice Mayor of the Division of Cleanliness, Recycling and Depot
• Vice Mayor of the Division of Geotechnical Services and Rural Development
• Vice Mayor of Civil Protection
• Deputy Mayor
• Civilian Head of the Department of Traffic and Transportation, as well as Chairman and BoD member in various Legal Entities of the Municipality of Kalamata (Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Company of Kalamata, Municipal Philharmonic Band, Sports Agency etc.).

His union activity is rich, as since his early age he has been elected by his colleagues in the Federation of Professional, Industrial and Commercial Associations of the Prefecture of Messinia, which he has served in various positions of responsibility. He was also the President of the Board of Directors of that Federation for several years.
